Fostering Saves Lives

Great fosters are an essential component for any rescue organization. Without foster homes, we are very limited in how many dogs we can save from euthanasia. As a foster-based organization, we rely on our foster homes to provide the love, care, and support until the dogs find their own forever home.

One of the most common questions we are asked is “How much does it cost to foster?” Refuge Rescue provides medical treatment, supplies, food, and monthly preventatives. However, we greatly appreciate any willingness to donate towards the dog’s general expenses such as food, treats, toys, etc and can provide a tax receipt for you.

We are also often asked…Can I adopt my foster dog? The short answer is yes, but the goal of fostering is to temporarily care for a dog until their forever home is found. Saying goodbye to a foster is never easy, but you will find comfort in gifting them the chance at a better life, and you will forever be a part of their story. It is important to remember that saying goodbye to one, saves another.

Fostering saves lives. Without our foster homes, we couldn’t do what we do. Join us and become a part of our family – a place where we support, encourage, and console each other to make a difference in the lives of orphan dogs.

The process for becoming a Refuge Rescue foster is as follows:

  1. Complete a foster application. The information you provide will help our foster team ensure a good fit for your home.
  2. A home check will be conducted, according to the Department of Agriculture guidelines. This is required by law. Due to COVID-19, we are able to complete this virtually.
  3. Review and sign your Foster Home Agreement.
  4. Prepare your home for your new foster dog’s arrival!

All applicants MUST have reliable transportation and live in Woodstock, Georgia or surrounding areas. Our veterinarians are primarily located in Woodstock and Marietta.
